Scope & Inheritance

Project Scope

Configuration that applies only to a project. It can inherit from the company or be defined independently.

What is it?

Project scope is the configuration that applies only to a single project. It can inherit from the company or be defined independently for that project.

What lives at project scope

Project scope holds everything that belongs to a single job:

  • The project settings — name, location, dates, and status of the project.
  • The team assignments, the members assigned to the project with their project role.
  • Any overrides of inherited elements (roles, fieldsets, workflows) redefined for this project.
  • The permission overrides specific to this project.
  • The project locations, the location hierarchy specific to this job.

When to use it

Configure at project scope everything specific to a single job: its team, its locations, and any standard that must differ from the company default for this project only.

Overriding at project scope never affects the company configuration or other projects.

See Project Configuration for the full set of project-level sections.
