Scope & Inheritance

Company Scope

Configuration that applies to the whole company: roles, permissions, fieldsets, workflows, and the directory shared across all projects.

What is it?

Company scope is the configuration that applies to the entire company. It acts as the base that every project inherits by default.

What lives at company scope

Several kinds of configuration live at company scope and are shared by every project:

  • The directory of companies, vendors, and contacts shared across all projects.
  • The roles and permissions that set the default access levels applied to every project.
  • The fieldsets with custom fields available in every project's modules.
  • The workflows — review and approval templates reusable in any project.
  • The data standards such as disciplines, locations, packages, and areas.

When to use it

Configure at company scope everything that should be consistent across the organization and reused by multiple projects. This avoids duplicate data entry and keeps standards aligned.

See Company Configuration for the full set of company-level sections.
